Mapping the façade of Penang Town Hall
George Town Festival 2025
During George Town Festival 2025 my first stop-motion mapping work lit up the façade of Penang Town Hall for ten nights.
Thanks to Filamen and Shakir for having me and letting my work come alive in such a beautiful public space!
The luster, cracks, and translucency of beads,
the intricate motifs of Peranakan beaded shoes,
and the rhythmic arrangements of Borneo ornaments
were magnified against the century-old architecture,
breathing gently into the night.
This colonial-era white building became
a vast “fabric” where patterns stretched, distorted,
and wove around its windows and columns.
The flow and interlacing of cultures
lived not only in the images,
but also in the space between the walls and the night air.

在喬治市藝術節的十個夜晚，
我的停格動畫登上了百年建築的外牆。
珠子的光澤與裂紋、
繡珠鞋的精緻紋樣、
婆羅洲飾品的節奏排列，
被放大在建築的窗框與立柱之間，
在夜色中緩緩呼吸。
這座殖民時期的市政廳，
成了一塊巨大的「布料」，
讓圖案在其上延展、扭動、交織，
文化的流動不只在影像裡，
也在牆與夜風之間流淌。
謝謝每一位停下腳步的人，
與我共享這份閃爍的片刻🌙
