About the National Art Exhibition, Taiwan The "National Art Exhibition, Taiwan" is a premier competitive event in the Taiwanese art community. This edition featured nearly a thousand entries, reflecting the unique cultural synthesis of Taiwan and the creative energy of artists observing social pulses and aesthetic trends.
Artist’s Statement I am honored to receive the Silver Prize in New Media Art at the 2022 National Art Exhibition. My new work, Blumentanz, took two years from conception to its official debut. This represents a personal commitment to my creative career: despite the demands of professional work, I strive to achieve a creative milestone every six months, allowing my artistic trajectory to flow steadily like a stream.
In recent years, I have explored the possibilities of animation beyond the screen. This project has evolved from traditional video to picture books and botanical paintings, culminating in this immersive spatial installation at the National Art Exhibition. This journey of self-challenge has taught me the power of collaboration. While creation is a solitary reflection, bringing a large-scale vision to life requires collective strength. I feel incredibly fortunate to have spent these years in Taiwan refining my craft and finding the energy to grow alongside mentors, partners, and friends.
Acknowledgments Heartfelt thanks to my advisor, Prof. Shih Chang-Chieh, for his trust and guidance; Prof. Chen Yung-Hsien and Prof. Liu Chia-Ling for their artistic inspiration. I am deeply grateful to my professional partners and friends—Chu-Chu, Chih-Chung, A-Pi, Pan-Pan, Chi-Hsian, Hsiao-Jou, and Ellen—for their invaluable support during the installation. Finally, I thank my family in Malaysia for their trust and my soulmate, Wei-Chi Lin, for his unwavering support throughout this journey.
